Landry threw a pass that tight end Charlie Sanders dropped near the end zone. Hughes, a decoy on the play, began running back to the huddle with 1:02 showing on the clock. Suddenly, he dropped to the turf clutching his chest around the 20-yard line. Hughes collapsed near Bears linebacker Dick Butkus, who saw him begin to convulse violently on the field. Realizing what was going on, Butkus motioned to the sideline frantically to get Hughes assistance.
An ambulance was called for and arrived to take Hughes to Henry Ford Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 5:34 pm that afternoon.
In 1944 1928, Lester Patrick became the oldest person to ever play in an NHL playoff game when he had to fill in as his team’s goaltender.
At the time, it was common for teams to only have one goaltender on the roster. The goaltender for the New York Rangers was injured during the second period of a game in the Stanley Cup Finals, so Patrick, the team’s coach suited up to play goaltender.
The coach of Pittsburgh’s hockey team at the time (the Pirates, I think?) was in attendance and came down to coach the Rangers for the rest of the game. He instructed the defense to check hard at the blue line and try to only allow long shots from the opposing team to help Patrick in net.
Lester Patrick allowed one goal. The Rangers won the game and would go on to win the Stanley Cup.

A life of avoidance isn’t living. It’s awaiting death while avoiding life.
Life truly is both brutal and exciting. You have to work brutally hard, but you also have to attempt to do things that scare you.
Fear is a wonderful thing. It’s more than thrill. Thrill is jumping from a cliff. Fear is going after a goal that you know you can very likely fail at. Fear is going to a new land you’re not certain is safe or even logical to visit. Fear hits your soul, it also helps it grow stronger.
The more fear you can face the more life you’ll live, and that should be what most of us attempt while we’re here, to live ambitiously, daringly, and dangerously.
The things that scare us should act as guides to, not from. (Read This: Let Fear Guide You)
They should be stars guiding our journey through life.
You’re not a pussy, even if you’ve lived like one up until now, it just takes a moment, a decision made in strength to start the habit of becoming a warrior, a man.
Make that decision now.
What is it that you’re scared to do but you’ve always wanted to try?
Think of 5 things. Do one now.
This isn’t a matter of ‘being successful’, but of living. This facing fear is addictive. Once you do it a few times you’ll never want to return to your old ways.

The Human Library based out of Denmark lets people check out “interactive books” for half an hour–but the words are coming from humans that volunteer to tell their tales.
Readers peruse the library catalog and select an experience to hear about–Child Of The Holocaust Survivors, The Gypsy Tale, Iraq War Veteran, and Orphanage Boy, are examples of story titles offered.
With library card in hand, readers are led to a discussion area to meet their book and hear the tale, cover to cover.
Started in 2000 by a Danish youth-based nonprofit, “Stop The Violence,” the Human Library was a project intended to start conversation and foster understanding between different types of people that would normally not interact with each other.
“The purpose is to challenge what we think we know about other members of our community,” reads the Human Library Facebook Page. “To challenge our stereotypes and prejudices in a positive framework, where difficult questions are accepted, expected and appreciated.”
The first Human Library event was hosted at the Roskilde Festival in Copenhagen. One of the largest summer festivals in Northern Europe, its theme focused on community activities to help stop growing levels of violence and bias in the area. Now the project has spread to over 50 countries across the world.
