Dad Made His 11-Year-Old Son Have Sex With His Stepmom Because He Was Worried He Might Be Gay

An unnamed couple, who lied about abusing their son to cover up their crimes when the child went to the police, have been sentenced to prison after the Reading Crown Court heard how they started sexually assaulting the boy, who is now in his 30s, from the age of 11. At the time of his arrest, the boy’s father told the authorities that he wanted to keep his son “on the straight and narrow.”

“To try and steer him in the right direction and not to go to the way of being gay, because there was like, sort of, tendencies for him to be gay.”

Prosecutor Ruby Silva told the jury that the couple used to force their son to watch the two of them having sex and even performed sexual acts on him to prevent him from turning gay.

Daniel Dowling, now 36, is telling his story publicly, which started when he was 11. He was playing a board game with his father and his stepmother, Annette Breakspear, and the father suggested that the loser of the game would take off their clothes.

When Breakspear was naked, Richard told his son to touch her body.

“I think that night was a tester of how I’d react because intercourse started after that,” Daniel said.

Later, Richard told Daniel to give his stepmother a “goodnight kiss.” He found her in her room naked and handcuffed to the bed.

“I gave her a kiss and went to leave but she asked me to touch her and to untie one of her hands,” Daniel said. “We had intercourse and Dad came and joined in.”

Later, Daniel was made to watch porn with them and then have sex with Breakspear.

“We’d watch porn in bed together and then we’d have threesomes. She’d instruct me on what to do. Sometimes when Dad wasn’t there she’d ask me into her room for fondling and intercourse.”

Richard Dowling and Breakspear eventually broke up and the father and son moved to a different city. Daniel, who was 16, was targeted by a child molester.

When the child molester got arrested, police searched his home and found naked pictures of Daniel. They talked to Daniel, and he told them about the abuse he suffered from his father and Breakspear.

They also talked to Richard, who said Daniel was an “attention seeking” liar. No charges were filed.

But in 2015, Daniel recorded a phone conversation with his father where he admitted to the abuse. The police then reopened the investigation.

Timothy Shorter, the defense lawyer of the now 60-year-old father, said: “Witness testimonies have demonstrated how the father had put himself out for the community. The father has had this hanging over his head a long time.” He pleaded with the judge to give the elderly man a suspended sentence; meanwhile, Shaun Smith, the defense lawyer of victim’s stepmother, said: “There are some people who hold her with a degree of regard and consider her somewhat well.”

The judge, however, said that the heinous crimes were carried out on the “particularly vulnerable” child. She said: “You have both argued that this whole trial process has weighed heavily on the both of you. This will provide you with absolutely no mitigation. This was your own warped sense of right and wrong. One of the most sickening aspects is how you pointed a finger at wholly innocent people, such as the boy’s birth mother.” She also added that the child “was desperate for affection and you wholly exploited that.”

The stepmother has been charged on accounts of child cruelty, indecent assault, and indecent acts with a child. She was sentenced to nine years. The father admitted to the child cruelty and indecency with a child charges. He was cleared of the indecent assault charges and sentenced to six years.

After the verdicts were read out in the court, the victim said:  “A lot of people will ask ‘why now?’ But it took me that long to convince myself I had the courage to go through it all again. If my story can reach just one other person, I will be perfectly happy with that.”

A Few Answers To Questions You Always Wondered About

psychopath

How would a psychopath feel psychologically if they were violently raped?

Psychopaths don’t feel empathy, fear, or remorse like normal people. They aren’t capable of experiencing emotional pain. So how would they feel if something that is normally traumatic for most people happened to them?

Any pain that I have endured loses it effectiveness over time, as does medication & other drugs. There are some sources of pain that I find enjoyable, like splinters or hot baths.

Whether I can mark this down to pain tolerance, or simple adaptation, I am not sure. One thing is certain, anything that arouses pleasure or pain loses it effectiveness & quickly at that.

I was raped a few years ago, vaginally and anally in a violent fashion repeatedly over the course of 5 days. During that time I felt little to nothing at the end of the ordeal in regards to my skin sensitivity. Mentally, I was not in distress. Vengeance was the only thing that served my mind, and served me quite well in terms of justice. He now lives & begs on the streets, and I have immense pleasure seeing him doing so, I think it is rather fitting given his actions.

Usually we will manipulate the situation in a way where we gain the trust of the torturer, or eventually debilitate them psychologically. More often than not, we do not find ourselves in such situations. When we do, there are consequences for our aggressors. Emotionally there is nothing evident, and boredom was something that occupied most of my time locked in that basement. Counting bricks and cracks in the concrete can only occupy one for so long.

How come when children/teens kill animals it’s a red flag for them being a sociopath/serial killer but when adults pay to kill wild animals for trophy’s nothing is thought of it?

First of all, children killing animals isn’t necessarily a red flag by itself. It’s not uncommon for a kid to stomp on a squirrel or something like that and then feel awful about it after. A lot of that is power tripping and a lot of that is curiosity, neither of which are by themselves indicative of psychopathy, because a young child doesnt know better. It becomes a red flag when the child is doing it out if cruelty/sadism – doing it just to cause pain. Or, if they’re old enough to where they fully understand why they’re doing it and why they shouldn’t be doing it. In that case, they’re probably doing it out of cruelty, which is a problem.

Second of all, a lot of it comes down to motivation. When a hunter tracks and kills a deer, you might call him an asshole, but he did it for the difficulty of it and the challenge, not because he really wanted to shoot a deer. If you just grab a deer and tie it up in front of a regular hunter they wouldn’t gleefully jump at the opportunity to kill it, because that’s not the point of hunting. If you kill animals just because you like killing them, then yeah, that’s messed up. I think most people would agree to that. But there’s always gonna be pride in accomplishing something difficult. That’s why an animal carcass is referred to as a “prize” – it’s something you earned. As for why it wouldn’t apply to humans, the simple answer is that we just don’t care as much about animals as we do humans. We take far less issue with killing them, and happily eat them every day. It’s kinda like asking, if we like eating meat so much, who’s to say we don’t one day try to snack on some human flesh? It’s just not how our brains are wired. Some people have messed up wiring, and that’s why a child (or adult) killing an animal out of pure cruelty is a red flag. It’s indicative of that damaged wiring.

What is it about Toyota that makes them so reliable?

Firstly, they are very conservative in implementing new tech. Their R&D have pretty advance tech, but for production, everything is validated (probably) twice as much compared to other carmakers, thus by the time it’s green lit for mass production, it’s old tech.

New tech adoption is so slow and difficult, it often frustrate even Toyota employees.

Another thing about Toyota R&D, they have regional design houses, with the aim to “localized” parts design as much as possible, even the smallest design (engineering) details.

For example, the inside ribs of a Hilux’s wheels in Brazil is about 5mm thicker than the ones in Thailand, so they can withstand 12G, instead 10G, because they did a survey of Brazil potholes, found out they are 20% bigger compared to a Thailand pothole.

Vietnam tires have tickers sidewalls, because people on Hanoi like to climb over curbs. South Africa’s absorbers are 2mm thicker, because people less likely to brake when they see a rock. Air intakes for tropical countries are placed 15mm higher, because there have more floods. Tiny changes which are easily managed at parts manufacturing level, but have significant impact in reducing failure rate.

For comparison, a German 3-series’s Transmission Oil cooler may be good enough for German weather, but they are same size for a UAE 3-series, which will kill the transmission.

A Golf’s Dual-clutch is nice in Autobahns, it won’t lost long in Indonesia’s stop-go 20km/h traffic jams,

And that’s why North American Toyota’s a rarely exported, or Euro/Asia model imported, not only because of regulations and tax, but NA’s usage condition is so much different from other countries, the cars wont be as reliable as intended.

Another thing, not all country has the same situation regarding car service. And Toyota is very knowledgeable about this.

Missed the Civic Type-R turbo oil change schedule because that single Honda dealer in your island is full? You just slash 2 years out of the turbo’s life..

But do you know a Toyota Etios in India have water proof Volume knobs, because they did a 6 month in survey 10 different states and concluded most dealers use soap to clean the interior, seriously.

And don’t let me start on materials, so many version, variation, caveats for standards, sometimes it feels like they are exporting to a different planet.

So, this is why most Toyota ends up with a 4 AT, 50hp/liter engine, with boring hard plastic interior, numb steering, and goofy tiny wheels with huge wheel arc gaps.

Toyota don’t mess around when it comes to suppliers, it’s borderline Stockholm Syndrome.

I’ve seen Toyota engineers who after a meeting in 10am, book a 4pm flight from Japan to the Philippines, buying some clothes on the way to the airport, just so the next morning they could go to this one supplier 50km from Manila, to confirm one particular welding machine of one particular brackets, because one of Toyota’s material lab found out 2 out of 100 sample of theses brackets developing micro cracks, which have 10% chances of breaking apart. So let’s set a camp in front of this welder, until we know why some of it cracked.

See, there are definitely engineers in Toyota Philippines who are capable of doing the same welding study, but this guy from Japan is the one who signed off this supplier, 5 years ago, so no way he going to trust some guy over a phone 3,000 miles away. He “owns” this bracket.

So Toyota have this concept called “Genchi Genbutsu”, which means something like “actual place, actual thing”. So the engineers no matter how many reports, data, pictures, nothing beat actually going to see the thing itself, studying it, discussing about it, in front of the actual problem. And I would have to admit, it just feels more right doing studies on on-site instead in a meeting rooms with printouts and PowerPoints, even if now that you have facetime/skype.

And for that Philippines supplier, well they’re going to be whole lot busier in the next year or so. 2~3 times more audit, more report, more samples. I’ve seen supplier’s engineers quit because of things like this, because the workload increase is just too much.

On the other hand, these suppliers would wear “We supply to Toyota” badge proudly, and it will definitely give them more business. There are even some car makers who would skip some evaluation processes on these Toyota supplier, thinking if it’s good enough for Toyota, it’s good enough for everyone else.

Man Sues Woman $17.31 For Texting During Movie Date

brandon vezmar sues date for texting during movie

A man from Texas sued a woman for $17.31 – the price of a cinema ticket – after she irritated him by texting during a movie.

Brandon Vezmar, 37, of Austin, claimed Crystal Cruz was “a threat to civilised society” after she used her phone to read and send text messages “at least 10-20 times in 15 minutes”

“It was kind of a first date from hell,” he told the Austin American-Statesman, saying she started about 15 minutes after the movie began. “This is one of my biggest pet peeves.”

Mr Vezmar asked Ms Cruz to stop but she refused. He suggested she step outside to use her phone, after which she left the cinema and never came back.

The 35-year-old woman also drove away in her car, in which she had driven them both, leaving him without a ride home, he said.

A few days later, he messaged her asking for the price of a ticket but she refused because “he took me out on a date”, she said.

“This is crazy,” she told the newspaper. “I’m not a bad woman. I just went out on a date.”

Mr Vezmar filed the petition in the small claims court in Travis County.

The texting was a “direct violation” of the cinema’s policy and the woman “adversely” affected Mr Vezmar’s viewing experience and that of other patrons, the petition states.

“While damages sought are modest, the principle is important as defendant’s behaviour is a threat to civilised society,” it says.

The pair were reunited at the cinema on Thursday in an attempt to sort out the dispute.

“The date just didn’t work out,” she told him during the reunion, according to Inside Edition, which arranged the meeting.

She also apologised and handed him money, asking him to “just leave this alone.”

Mr Vezmar accepted the apology and said he would withdraw the lawsuit. He also said he would donate the money to charity.

Mom Who Named Her Daughter ‘Abcde’ Mad At Airline Agent For Mocking Girl’s Name

woman southwest abcde

A woman says a Southwest Airlines agent in Southern California mocked her 5-year-old daughter’s ‘Abcde’ name when they were preparing to board a flight home to Texas.

The girl’s name is spelled with the first five letters of the alphabet and is pronounced Ab-city

Traci Redford was preparing to pre-board a flight from John Wayne Airport in Orange County to El Paso, Texas, reports Los Angeles TV station KABC.

“The gate agent started mocking my child’s name, laughing, pointing at me and my daughter, and talking to other employees,” Redford told KABC.

“So I turned around and just said ‘Hey, I can hear you. If i can hear you, my daughter can too. I’d appreciate it if you’d just stop’.”

Redford said the agent also took a picture of the boarding pass with her daughter’s name, pronounced “ab-city,” and posted it to social media, said the report.

Southwest Airlines said it has since followed up with the employee involved, but did not disclose any actions taken.

“We extend our sincere apology to the family,” said the airline in its statement. “We take great pride in extending our Southwest Hospitality to all of our customers, which includes living by the Golden Rule and treating every individual with respect, in person or online.”

A Few Tips, Tricks And Hacks That Will Make Your Life A Whole Lot Easier

$
0

If you have to fight with your significant other, hold hands and go for a walk. It’s very, very, VERY difficult to get angry while holding hands, or while walking together in the same direction.

The latter advice is great for all relationships, not just romantic ones. Conversations that happen on walks are very different from conversations that happen when you sit facing each other. Try it.

If you have the unfortunate experience of having to put a pet down, find a vet that will make a house call. Don’t let your pet’s last moments be somewhere they are afraid of. (Lap Of Love)

Take photos of your parents doing things they do every day. When you get older, they will bring back memories more than any posed pic ever could.

When you see someone being harassed in public, act like you know them and get them out of the situation

I took a course on civic courage last week and we were taught to not approach the perpetrators when we see a dangerous situation in public — that would not help the victim, and would just lead to us getting punched in the face too. Instead, we’re supposed to reach out to the victim, address them by name and ask them to come with us. This gets them out of the situation without needlessly endangering you.

Example (we watched a video on this): Two drunk guys enter a subway car and start bullying a skinny young guy reading a book (taking the book away, not letting him get up). Another passenger goes over (but doesn’t get too close) and says, “Hey, Peter, I haven’t seen you in a while, why don’t you sit with me? How’s the girlfriend?”

The people doing the workshop were former policemen and say this works 9 out of 10 times.

If nothing else, call 911. Don’t look away.

Take time to learn how to properly fall. It sounds ridiculous but as a snowboarder/skateboarder if you know how to fall it will save you from injury very easily. Not just in extreme sports but in every day life

If you are composing an important message, do not enter the recipient until you have finished composing it so that you do not accidentally send an incomplete message

If you’re on Gmail you can turn on a feature that delays the send for a set amount of time so you have a chance to cancel the send before it actually goes out.

When you buy a house, change out the water hoses for the washing machine because you never know when they were replaced last and are one of the most common causes of catastrophic water damage in homes.

If you ever find yourself stranded in the middle of nowhere, stay with your vehicle. You are much more likely to be found by searchers and will have shelter if needed.

As a local search for a missing 74 year old hunter enters the fifth day, I’m reminded of what a Search and Rescue worker once told me, “Stay with your car, because we always find the car”. This has proven true in the case of this hunter. His truck was found stuck in a ditch one day after he was reported missing, but unfortunately he has yet to be found.

Go for a walk every day. While this sounds ineffective, it actually proves helpful to making yourself more productive and happy – and is very effective at doing so.

One study showed walking improved creativity, and it also helps improve health across all types of people, active and inactive, smokers and non-smokers, young and old. We’re bipeds facing forward, it’s one of the best things you can do

Just because you can get training or a degree in a field doesn’t mean you can get a job doing it. Research your interests before committing to an expensive degree path

You can look to teachers and professors for advice, and to find contacts in your desired field to ask about employment prospects before you go into debt for an expensive degree.

If you are quitting a vice (smoking, drinking, etc.) treat yourself with the money you are saving. It makes quitting easier

If I had back all the money I’ve spent on alcohol over the last year, it’d probably be somewhere around 30% of my net income. I’ve decided to get my shit sorted, and I’m 9 days off it. The rest of the year, any beer money I have is going into a “get a new hobby” fund. Thinking about mountain biking or hiking. A sober Christmas will be a nice cap to the year I’ll always remember as being my worst.

Don’t stop searching for jobs once you have one. You’ll make more money, find a more enjoyable career and open up countless doors for yourself in the process.

Don’t wait for big changes. Improve your life 1% per day. Small improvement is actionable daily and adds up fast.

This is expanded upon in the book The Compound Effect. It’s a system to analyze your current life, where you want to be, then build better habits from the ground up which inevitably lead to consistent processes that will achieve those goals over time.

When making ice cream cones for the kids (or yourself) put a marshmallow at the bottom before adding ice cream. It stops any drips that may leak out from the bottom of the cone… and you have an extra treat at the end

Double, sometimes triple the shelf life of your greens

1. Create Intention in Your Life and Find a Compelling Purpose

“It should not be enough to have lived. We should be determined to live for something.” ~Winston S. Churchill

One of the greatest regrets of the dying (as recorded in Bronnie Ware’s blog Inspiration and Chai) is that they allowed others to dictate their choices and actions instead of living the life that they wanted.

So often, I see men wandering aimlessly through life with no purpose, no intention, and no clarity about what they need to do to make this life count.

All the while, these same men forget that each second that passes brings them one second closer to their death.

It’s a morbid thought, but it’s true.

Life moves in one direction, forwards, and (unless Elon Musk saves humanity) all lives are ultimately moving towards the same end.

So stop pretending like you are going to live forever and stop wasting your time living for other people who have done so little for you.

Everyone is concerned with their own lives too much to worry about yours. Think about it. How much time do you spend thinking about other people’s lives? Right around zero.

So quit living a half-assed life dedicated to “Keeping up with the Joneses” and start living like this is the only shot you’ve got.

Live your life with a sense of urgency. Live your life so that every second is on purpose. Live your life so that every action you take is intentional and impactful and pushes you towards a life that feels meaningful and important.

“I cannot believe that the purpose of life is to be happy. I think the purpose of life is to be useful, to be responsible, to be compassionate. It is, above all to matter, to count, to stand for something, to have made some difference that you lived at all” ~Leo Rosten

Live your life to the fullest. Everything else is bullshit.

Make a conscious choice each and every day to something you’re afraid of. Do something that scares you.

Make a bold decision right now and go do it. Your dreams are on the other side of your fears and your life will improve by leaps and bounds if you follow the (admittedly politically incorrect) advice to “Man Up!”

No one ever wrote a song about how awesome it is to be a coward.

Be a superhero and kick some ass.

The life you’re saving is yours.

I have a simple challenge for you to help drive this point home.

Right now, I want you to whip out a pen and a piece of paper (don’t worry, I’ll wait) and write down five things you want to do but are too scared to start.

For Example:

  1. Learn how to Salsa dance
  2. Start going back to the gym
  3. Approach that cute barista at your local coffee shop
  4. Travel outside of the country
  5. Reach out to that friend you haven’t talked to in ages.

Once you have your list, I want you to commit to doing each of these items over the next 30 days.

It’s your life dammit! Don’t you deserve one measly month to achieve the dreams you’ve always had but never taken action on?

Once you’re done, come back, check in, and then do another 30 days.

Get more done in the second month than you did in the first.  This is where the rubber hits the road. If you write down your goals and work every day towards them you are now living a purposeful life.

You are living on the edge and waking up every day with the burning desire to crush the day.

Riley Morrison wrote in her letter that she’s a big fan of the Golden State Warriors point guard and she wanted a pair of Icon Curry 5 sneakers, but when she visited the Under Armour website to buy them, she didn’t see them listed under the girls’ section.

“Dear Mr. Stephen Curry,

My name is Riley (just like your daughter), I’m 9 years old from Napa, California. I am a big fan of yours. I enjoy going to Warriors games with my dad. I asked my dad to buy me the new Curry 5s, because I’m starting a new basketball season. My dad and I visited the Under Armour website and were disappointed to see that there were no Curry 5s for sale under the girls section. However, they did have them for sale under the boys section, even to customize. I know you support girl athletes because you have two daughters and you host an all-girls basketball camp. I hope you can work with Under Armour to change this because girls want to rock the Curry 5s, too.

Sincerely,
Riley Morrison”

On Thursday, Steph Curry tweeted the handwritten note that he sent Riley in response.

He said he has now worked with Under Armour to put them in the girls section too, and sure enough the shoes are now there.
