No one gets through life unscathed. And while it is 0% your fault that these things happen to you, it is 100% your responsibility to deal with the aftermath of what your situation has given to you.
I had one client a few years ago who blamed all of his life’s shortcomings on the fact that his father had been largely absent during his childhood.
Having emotionally unavailable parents is a hinderance, no doubt. So is having one of your best friends die. So is being raped. So is being bullied for years. So are a lot of things that happen to people, every day, around the world.
At a certain point in our working relationship, I had to tell him that the pain that he felt on account of his dad not being around was real, but the fact that he was still blaming his father for all of his life’s shortcomings more than thirty years later wasn’t helping him.
When we blame other people for aspects of our lives, we shrug off the tough work of taking responsibility for ourselves.
I’ll say that again…
If you’re blaming others, you’re avoiding responsibility in your life.
Take back your power by forgiving the people you have felt victimized by, and get on with your life.
No one is coming to save you. At a certain point in your journey, you have to pick yourself up by your socks and tell yourself, “How my life goes is up to me. I’m going to become a bigger person now, and stop copping out by blaming other people for my life’s circumstances.”

We do not admire the man of timid peace. We admire the man who embodies victorious effort; the man who never wrongs his neighbor, who is prompt to help a friend, but who has those virile qualities necessary to win in the stern strife of actual life. –Theodore Roosevelt
To win in the stern strife of actual life.
Life is hard. Being an ambitious man makes it even more difficult. The higher you aim, the greater your trials will be but simply by setting out in a more audacious fashion you become the man worthy of the grand dream you’re chasing.
Be the guy not soft and timid, shying away from that call of the wild. Be the man marching to a different tune, not one of quiet mediocrity, but of ‘victorious effort’, and be a good man while you’re doing it.
This is who we respect. This is who we want to be around and who we want to emulate. This is the guy that inspires others while taking care of even more.
He doesn’t shy away from the harshness nor the brutality of life, nor does he complain that it is so. He doesn’t look at the lives of others with envy because of their ease. Comparisons don’t make their way into his head. He doesn’t get jealous nor envious nor does he resent those he helps because he’s always helping them.
He knows his role in life and he doesn’t bitch or wine about it. More than that, he goes about it in an aggressive manner. He hunts down life. He makes life his bitch rather than being a victim to its whims.
Be that guy.
Be tough as nails. Be dependable. Be a winner. Be active, aggressive, and assertive while also being good and kind and useful.
Don’t be the pansy. Don’t be the guy who relegates himself to live a small life because he’s so scared of failing or dying or danger.
I know what you want to be. I know what I want to be. But the desire has to be backed not just by dreams and goals but by the man that can make those dreams and goals real.

A 17-year old, deaf, and mostly blind Blue Heeler named Max spent more than 15 hours in the treacherous Australian bushland keeping a lost 3-year old little girl safe and ultimately leading rescuers to her location.
Three-year-old Aurora was reported missing about 3:00pm Friday when she wandered away from her Queensland, Australia home. The toddler’s family searched their rural property for hours but could not find her.
By Saturday morning, more than 100 volunteers, Good Samaritans, and emergency workers had joined in the search.
Around 8:00am, Aurora’s grandmother, Leisa Bennett, heard the toddler’s voice from the top of a mountain and headed in that direction – that’s where she was met by Max, the family’s 17-year old deaf and partially blind Blue Heeler.
“I shot up the mountain … and when I got to the top, the dog came to me and led me straight to her,” Bennett said to ABC
Aurora was found about 1.2 miles from home, after hero dog Max led the girl’s grandmother to her.
“The area around the house is quite mountainous and is very inhospitable terrain to go walking in, so she’d traveled quite a distance with her dog that was quite loyal to her,” SES area controller Ian Phipps added.
Aurora told her uncle that, during the long, cold night, she’d slept cuddled up to Max, the loyal and heroic senior dog that never left her side except to lead her grandmother to her location.
Aside from a few cuts and scratches, the toddler is doing well. And, for his heroic actions to protect his littlest human, Max was named an honorary police dog by the Queensland Police.

Fight Until Your Hear the Bell!
If you drop your arms before you hear the bell, you are going to get knocked the fuck out! As humans, we fall in love with the idea of being someone great. The second we hit a roadblock in our plan to greatness, a lot of us throw in the towel.
Instead of giving up on your goals, learn to look at it from a different angle. It’s important in life not to be fixed-minded. The journey you are on is constantly changing. You have to be willing to compromise. Sometimes you have to be willing to let go of your original plan.
A lot of us don’t want to get our hands dirty when shit gets hard. You have to have the self-discipline to see your plan through until the end. Self-discipline is so important because very few of us have anyone who is going to wake us up in the morning to keep us on track. Stop relying on other people to push you, encourage you, coach you, etc. You have to establish habits that make it second nature to keep your hands up in the fight until you hear the bell. You also have to be ready for a cheap shot after the bell!
Your best work has to come when you have the least inspiration. It’s on those days that you have to remind yourself why the fuck you are even doing what you are doing. You can not drop your arms just because you are tired!! If you want to achieve greatness in life, it comes with a huge compromise in your life. To be a doctor, it takes about 13 years after high school. To be a lawyer, it takes about 7 years. To be a professional athlete, it can consume your whole life. To train for a marathon, it can take a runner 16 weeks of training. In all of these instances, you are compromising time with friends, family, social time, maybe sleep, etc.
Only you can define the meaning of success to you. Everybody is different. Judging and comparing yourself to other people is a fucking waste of time.
If you are one of those people looking for more, you will have to sacrifice. Sticking with sports analogies, if you don’t play until you hear the whistle, don’t be surprised when life knocks you on your ass!

A new suicide machine offers users with a 3D printer the ability to kill themselves any time, anywhere within a pod that doubles as their coffin.
The machine, known as a Sarco Capsule, was developed in the Netherlands by Dr. Philip Nitschke, a well-known proponent of euthanasia known as “Dr. Death,” and engineer Alexander Bannink. Nitschke said that the design for the machine, which allows users to kill themselves with the press of a button, will be made open-sourced and free, so that anyone with access to a 3D printer can download and assemble the instrument of their demise.
“Sarco does not use any restricted drugs, or require any special expertise such as the insertion of an intravenous needle,” Nitschke said, according to Lifesite. “Anyone who can pass the entry test, can enter the machine and legally end their life.”
Prior to using the machine, users would have to complete an online questionnaire in order to establish their mental competency. After this, they receive a four-digit access code which opens the device. In the chamber, they can start it using voice recognition, the press of a button, or even a series of blinks for paralyzed individuals. Liquid nitrogen is then used to trigger a drop in oxygen, which Bannick says is a “common method used by those seeking a peaceful elective death.” The capsule, which attaches from its base, can be used as a coffin.
The machine is only the latest in a series of devices pushed by Nitschke that offers people various methods of committing suicide. Nitschke released a suicide kit online, disguised as equipment for home brewing beer, that sold for roughly $340 and, like the Sarco Capsule, allowed users to kill themselves anywhere and anytime they wanted. He has sold it in the U.K. for three years, despite the fact that overt assisted suicide is illegal there.
Nitschke once operated as a general practitioner in Australia, but burned his medical certificate after he came under legal fire for not referring a suicidal patient to a psychiatrist. The patient killed himself, and Nitschke went on to establish Exit International, a euthanasia promotion campaign, in 1997. Nitschke said he would offer death to anyone who seeks it, “including the depressed, the elderly bereaved, the troubled teen.”
If you or someone you know is in distress or contemplating suicide, there are people who can help. Call the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline (1-800-273-8255) to speak to experts who will listen.
