In 2006, Michael Stepien was shot and killed while walking home from work, but this didn’t stop him from attending his daughter’s wedding recently, because Jeni (Stepien, now Lynne) invited the man who received her father’s donated heart to walk her down the aisle, and it made for the most incredible day.
Arthur Thomas, 72, was close to death when a suitable heart was found. It was Michael’s heart, and the donation saved his life. Thomas wrote a thank you note to the family and they remained in touch over the years, so when Jeni wrote him a letter asking if he’d walk her down the aisle, he proudly honored her request. “What greater honor could a person have than walking the daughter of the man who’s given his heart to him,” he told KDKA. “I can’t imagine a greater honor.”

Ginuwine has become the subject of debate on Twitter after he refused to kiss a trans woman on television.
In the clip above, the R&B vet is among the celebrities featured on the reality show Big Brother UK. On a recent episode, co-star India Willoughby, who identifies as a trans woman, asked Ginuwine would he date a trans woman to which he replied, no. Willoughby then tries to kiss Ginuwine and is immediately curved to the tenth power.
The clip has sparked a heated debate on Twitter over whether Ginuwine was transphobic for refusing to kiss a trans woman on live television.
One apparent activist on Twitter called Ginuwine “transphobic,” adding that the singer “has an irrational fear of transgender women” and that “this is not rocket science.”
Another Twitter user noted that “TRANSWOMEN ARE WOMEN TOO. Ginuwine was asked if he would date a woman. That should apply to transwomen too. They’re are women. PERIOD. Can’t believe people are so close minded.”
Yet another called Ginuwine’s actions “transphobia” and “I’m tired of them saying that it isn’t. If you say you won’t date someone because they’re trans but you would date them if you didn’t know, IT IS TRANSPHOBIA.”
However, most people are standing up for the singer and his choice to kiss whomever he wants without being criticized.
“Calling Ginuwine transphobic for not wanting to kiss a trans woman makes as much sense as me trying to kiss a lesbian, getting rejected, then calling her heterophobic,” wrote one user.
Another person tweeted, “Ginuwine was within his rights to refuse that kiss. Since when was it OK to plant your lips on another person without consent … I’ll wait.”

For years, he was called a madman for toiling away on the rocks. But Dashrath Manjhi was not crazy. His quest to break a path through a small mountain to benefit the entire village is now legendary because he carved an entire road with hand tools, working for 22 years.
Manjhi started off his extraordinary task in 1960, after his wife was injured while trekking up the side of one of the rocky footpaths. To reach the nearest hospital, he had to travel around the mountains, some 40 miles.
The laborer from Gehlour Hills in Bihar, India wanted his people to have easier access to doctors, schools, and opportunity. Armed with only a sledge hammer, chisel, and crowbar, he single-handedly began carving a road through the 300-foot mountain that isolated his village from the nearest town.
“People told Manjhi that he wouldn’t be able to do it,” said Dahu Manjhi, the man’s nephew, “that he is a poor man who just needs to earn and eat.”
He sold the family’s three goats to buy the hammer and chisels and worked every day on the project to make it successful. After plowing fields for others in the morning, he would work on his road all evening and throughout the night.
He toiled from 1960 to 1982, having developed his own technique. He burned firewood on the rocks, then sprinkled water on the heated surface which cracked the boulders making it possible to reduce them to rubble.
Finally, the road was completed. With sides 25 feet high, the road is 30 feet wide and 360 feet in length. Because of his singular dedication, the distance to public services was reduced from 40 miles to just one.
It has been over three decades since the “Mountain Man,” as he was called, completed the road. The feat brought the Gehlour man international acclaim. After he died of cancer in 2007, Bihar’s Chief Minister gave him a State funeral. Though many believe he deserved it, he never received the Bharat Ratna, the nation’s highest civilian honor that recognizes “exceptional service” in the community.
