A Few Tips, Tricks And Hacks That Will Make Your Life A Whole Lot Easier

If someone doesn’t understand something you’re explaining to them, treat it as your fault for failing to explain effectively, not their fault for not understanding

I’ve recently realized this is the root of most of the communication issues with my friends and family. I would try to explain something, for example: how to run the new dishwasher. If they failed to understand the process, I would get angry (not at them, just in general) and they would see it as a critique of their intelligence. The discussion would quickly turn into an argument and in the end everyone would just hate the new dishwasher.

So I started acting like it was my failure to explain the situation…even if it wasn’t. It totally changed the tone of my voice and made the person I was talking to more receptive to my instructions. Instead of turning into an argument or debate, it turns into a constructive teaching opportunity.

When being a designated driver, don’t drive your car, drive one of your friend’s. Keeps your car puke free.

To avoid the fake, cheesy smile on young kids when you try to take their picture, ask them to tell you a joke while you take it, but tell them that they should absolutely not laugh while telling it. Beautiful pictures every time of glee

Treat your own time off work as if it was your second job and you are the project. Invest in your self by doing things to learn new skills, give you a sense of accomplishment, and make you happy. You work hard for someone else’s business; work just as hard to make your happiness your business

When making an argument, a single strong point is better than one strong point and multiple weak points. Weak points become targets and weaken your entire position

If you have to pay a company to work for them, it’s a scam. Walk away

Instead of saying “I don’t know” when your boss asks you a question say “I’ll find out.” It’ll make them respect you more

If your SO can’t make a decision about where to eat, play the 5-2-1 game. You give them 5 restaurants, they pick two, and you pick from those

When taking pictures on your phone of/with other people, launch the camera from your lockscreen so that if they ask to see how the picture turned out and you have to hand them your phone, they can’t snoop through your other photos

When breaking up with someone, make a list of the reasons that made you break up with that person. If you’re thinking of getting back together, read that list

We tend to idealize our partners after a while. We forget their defects and the reasons that made us get away in the first place. This list is really helpful in those moments when we feel lonely and tempted to call again.

Always put your shoes through the airport x-ray machine last, especially if you’re in a rush. You won’t be able to accidentally walk (or run) off without something that’s still going though the scanner

You will never “feel like” doing something that you should do. You just have to do it

Something I’ve learned over time is that when you have something you need to do, there’s a moment where you’re like “man, I need to do that,” but think: “I’ll just do it later when I’m in the mood.” So far as I know, that mood never comes. So the moment you think “man, I need to do that,” is the moment you have to do it. It isn’t easy, but it’s the only way to get it done. Plus you’ll feel good afterwards.

Ty Cobb “sliding” into home

Transgender wrestler Mack Beggs identifies as a male. He just won the Texas state girls title (article)

“I just witnessed my sport change,” a longtime Texas wrestling coach said moments after Beggs, a 17-year-old junior at Trinity High in Euless whose transition from girl to boy began two years ago and now includes testosterone injections, won a championship. The victory was seen as equal parts unavoidable — quick and noticeably strong, he entered the tournament unbeaten in 52 matches against girls — and contentious. The University Interscholastic League, which oversees sports in Texas public schools, ordered Beggs to continue competing in the girls’ division despite heavy uproar and a lawsuit earlier this month in a Travis County district court.

faith in humanity restored

Just about every time I see someone I stop. I kind of got out of the habit in the last couple of years, moved to a big city and all that, my girlfriend wasn’t too stoked on the practice. Then some shit happened to me that changed me and I am back to offering rides habitually. If you would indulge me, it is long story and has almost nothing to do with hitch hiking other than happening on a road.

This past year I have had 3 instances of car trouble. A blow out on a freeway, a bunch of blown fuses and an out of gas situation. All of them were while driving other people’s cars which, for some reason, makes it worse on an emotional level. It makes it worse on a practical level as well, what with the fact that I carry things like a jack and extra fuses in my car, and know enough not to park, facing downhill, on a steep incline with less than a gallon of fuel.

Anyway, each of these times this shit happened I was DISGUSTED with how people would not bother to help me. I spent hours on the side of the freeway waiting, watching roadside assistance vehicles blow past me, for AAA to show. The 4 gas stations I asked for a gas can at told me that they couldn’t loan them out “for my safety” but I could buy a really shitty 1-gallon one with no cap for $15. It was enough, each time, to make you say shit like “this country is going to hell in a handbasket.”

But you know who came to my rescue all three times? Immigrants. Mexican immigrants. None of them spoke a lick of the language. But one of those dudes had a profound affect on me.

He was the guy that stopped to help me with a blow out with his whole family of 6 in tow. I was on the side of the road for close to 4 hours. Big jeep, blown rear tire, had a spare but no jack. I had signs in the windows of the car, big signs that said NEED A JACK and offered money. No dice. Right as I am about to give up and just hitch out there a van pulls over and dude bounds out. He sizes the situation up and calls for his youngest daughter who speaks english. He conveys through her that he has a jack but it is too small for the Jeep so we will need to brace it. He produces a saw from the van and cuts a log out of a downed tree on the side of the road. We rolled it over, put his jack on top, and bam, in business. I start taking the wheel off and, if you can believe it, I broke his tire iron. It was one of those collapsible ones and I wasn’t careful and I snapped the head I needed clean off. Fuck.

No worries, he runs to the van, gives it to his wife and she is gone in a flash, down the road to buy a tire iron. She is back in 15 minutes, we finish the job with a little sweat and cussing (stupid log was starting to give), and I am a very happy man. We are both filthy and sweaty. The wife produces a large water jug for us to wash our hands in. I tried to put a 20 in the man’s hand but he wouldn’t take it so I instead gave it to his wife as quietly as I could. I thanked them up one side and down the other. I asked the little girl where they lived, thinking maybe I could send them a gift for being so awesome. She says they live in Mexico. They are here so mommy and daddy can pick peaches for the next few weeks. After that they are going to pick cherries then go back home. She asks if I have had lunch and when I told her no she gave me a tamale from their cooler, the best fucking tamale I have ever had.

So, to clarify, a family that is undoubtedly poorer than you, me, and just about everyone else on that stretch of road, working on a seasonal basis where time is money, took an hour or two out of their day to help some strange dude on the side of the road when people in tow trucks were just passing me by. Wow…

But we aren’t done yet. I thank them again and walk back to my car and open the foil on the tamale cause I am starving at this point and what do I find inside? My fucking $20 bill! I whirl around and run up to the van and the guy rolls his window down. He sees the $20 in my hand and just shaking his head no like he won’t take it. All I can think to say is “Por Favor, Por Favor, Por Favor” with my hands out. Dude just smiles, shakes his head and, with what looked like great concentration, tried his hardest to speak to me in English:

“Today you…. tomorrow me.”

Rolled up his window, drove away, his daughter waving to me in the rear view. I sat in my car eating the best fucking tamale of all time and I just cried. Like a little girl. It has been a rough year and nothing has broke my way. This was so out of left field I just couldn’t deal.

In the 5 months since I have changed a couple of tires, given a few rides to gas stations and, once, went 50 miles out of my way to get a girl to an airport. I won’t accept money. Every time I tell them the same thing when we are through:

“Today you…. tomorrow me.”

5-Star Yelp Reviews Of Scientology Centers

1. Wow! As you can see, people rating this place are either big fans or raving adversaries. My experience has been quite positive, but then again, I’m a skeptic – I don’t believe “everything you read on the internet” (including THIS post). To me, “seeing is believing” – I like to jump into something for a while and check it out, with the main question being “does it work?”

For me, it works really well. I’ve learned a lot about the guy typing this review (me) and a lot about others that I can use to make things better in life. You know, these scare stories about people being manipulated or forced to do things – in real life, in this century – it doesn’t happen that way: unless you’ve been kidnapped or something, you can judge for yourself, decide for yourself and stay with it or walk away. Nobody ever put handcuffs on me nor did any kind of tricks to get me to do something. In fact, they’ve been some of the friendliest people I’ve dealt with in this area. You kinda have to question the motives of some of these reviewers.

Anyway, I took a course or two many years ago, then didn’t have anything to do with it until recently, and then – on my own steam, not under any kind of pressure – decided to do the next course. Liked it so much that I got my son doing this course that makes him an A+ student and he digs it!

I think it’s worth checking out.

2. The friendliest place on earth! Came to this org to receive Scientology auditing and it has drastically changed my outlook on life and how I perceive myself and the people around me.
I’m the happiest I’ve ever been and its permanent and stable. I don’t feel wooden or moody and I don’t have to worry about ever going back to the way I was before because I know have the tools and knowledge I need to thrive and excel in life!

3. We are living a time when civil rights are supposed to exist. People are considered free and equal no matter their race, gender, sexual orientation, ethnic, nationality or political view, but we do not live in a time of religious tolerance. I am a member of this church, I am aghast by some of the “reviews” left about my church. I have been going to this church for 30 years and I have never seem some of the people who are writing such hateful things about my church. The majority of the “reviews” are fakes plagiarized from the internet. As a race we need to practice religious tolerance.
That said I want to share an honest review of what I experienced going to this church.
When I first contacted this church I lived in San Diego. I was in my early twenties, my new husband and I decided to drive up to see a seminar about marriage. My car broke down in Oceanside which was 80 miles away. I called to tell them that I could not make it. Ralfi who answered the phone told me not to worry because he would send someone to pick me up. I told him it was an 80 mile drive. He told me not to worry, and as promised someone in a very nice care came and picked us up. When we arrived we meet Doug Brown who said he would drive us back to San Diego. I took several seminars including seminars about marriage, money and communication. The church offers classes on various things like, “How to run a Successful Business’, “How to Have Happy Children” or “How to Have a Successful Marriage.” There are also professional courses for people who want to be counselors. In the period of 30 years, there had been some tragedies, family members dying, our house burnt down once and just the general stresses of life. There has always been a kind person to listen and provide guidance. I have had three kids since then and the church has helped them in various ways, My kids took classes for children which helped them be better students and decided what careers they wanted. All of my children when to college and all have 4.0 grade averages. Recently my son and his partner had marriage counselling. Like any church we have events but ours are amazing. We celebrate the regular holidays like Christmas and New Years and we have some of our own holidays like the date the Book Dianetics was released. Our events are free, they have live music and are catered. Most events have free daycare. The event planners like to make each event better than the last, so after 65 years these events are really good. After the event dinner is served and you can sit around and talk to old friends. Now how did all this work out for me? Using the information I learned from the classes I took at the church I started several companies, all successful. My husband and I are are now happily retired and enjoying life in beautiful Clearwater Florida. I am grateful for having been a part of this group and all they did for us.

4. I recently finished the Purification Rundown at this location and am now working on an extension course through them.
The Purification Rundown was incredible. It’s not the easiest program to get through (especially I’d you’re not a fan of vitamins or the sauna) but I finished feeling refreshed, healthy and more present. It really did boost my general sense of well being and my ability to think clearly. I strongly recommend that anyone living on planet earth do it. 🙂
I have always gotten great personal gains from the technologies of L. Ron Hubbard and I think this is a great location to study them. The place is beautiful and the staff are knowledgeable and caring.
I am excited to continue to get to know myself and learn to handle life better here! Thanks guys!

5. I’ve been here on several occasions for seminars, events, non-profit fundraisers, etc and it’s always been a blast. The whole place has an incredible vibe, and everyone I’ve met here has been nothing but helpful and understanding.

Want to take a visit? Do it. Whether Scientology is for you or not, it’s a very nice place to be.

6. In all honesty, I never thought I’d be writing a review on the church of Scientology (much less a positive one), but alas here I am. Everyone has their own idea of what Scientology is, but no one really knows. For context, I’ll just lay out how I ended up here.

I’m at the central casting office EARLY AS F**K to get registered. About a half hour before the central casting people came out, I see this woman going down the line passing out flyers. At first I thought she worked for central but then I heard her say to a guy in front of me “Yeah it’s at 7 tonight, you should come.”. So I knew it wasn’t a central thing. When she gets to me, she looks me up and down and points at me and says “You need to come to this!” Almost as if I like met the requirements for what she was looking for. Idk it was weird, but in a good way…?

Anyways, now I’m thinking she’s casting for something so I look at the flyer and its Scientology. I chuckled a bit and put it in my pocket, kinda feeling like an idiot. It also dawned on me that OF COURSE they would be there to feast upon these starving, young, impressionable actors. But then I started to think “I don’t know shit about Scientology other than what ‘Going Clear’ says.” And I got curious and decided to go to that lecture at 7. The woman came back to me in the line and said she could actually take me their right then and there. So off we went.

When we got there, it was just as beautiful as everyone says. Only difference being that everyone was SUPER nice! It kinda boggles my mind that people had bad FIRST visits with them. They were literally the nicest people I’ve ever met. I must’ve shaken at least 20 different peoples hands and it all felt authentic. They accommodated me very thoroughly. They made me feel like I was a celebrity or something, it was pretty bizarre. But nice. They definitely are VERY sales-y but I expected no less. I haven’t committed to anything and they were fine with that and it was just a great overall experience and it’s really hard to fathom these people being anything less than cordial.

7. This place is super awesome. It’s interior is extremely beautiful. Over 20 million was spent on the remodel. It’s one of the nicest buildings I’ve ever seen. Plenty of free videos to watch in comfortable chairs. Hundreds of hours of content available to the public. 2 private theaters to watch films. 12+ widescreen televisions with a touch panel to navigate content. Leather chairs to sit down in. Free DVDs to take home for all the public. Free informational packets on courses currently being offered. Free personality testing with a free personal professional indepth consultation regarding personality scores. The personality test goes over 10 specific areas on individuals lives to see which areas to improvement and which areas are your strong points. AND!! All of this is ONLY on the FIRST FLOOR!!!

This is a four story building, with a wealth of knowledge that will change anyone and everyones lives who is willing to take a unbiased unprejudiced look for themselves. This place is for the people are capable of reaping the fruits of observation.

The “ups and downs” course is a must-have for every person on this planet. Find out the true cause of troubles.  Recognize, confront and handle it forever!

8. The Church of Scientology Org of Pasadena is extremely AWESOME! I came there feeling a bit indifferent about them, but after signing up on course and sticking to it, I have come to love the place like a second home. I have grown and learned so much here in a span of only 3 months, more so than 18 years at regular school. It is not long after being there for a bit to realize that they are probably one of the only good causes out there. They really care about the individual and would love helping someone get up tone and become who they really are. They awaken one from the zombie-like state and release them from their invisible chains. I HIGHLY recommend anyone to go there and take a course–any course! ^^
(I would also like to add that, I have been going to this Org for about three months now; However, I have been in Scientology for about a year now. I used to be horribly depressed and I was able to get MYSELF out of it using what I have learned from it. It really is a great cause! I was in regular therapy for four years and depressed for eight years total, and only less than a year I was able to come waaaaaaay up tone and gain more control of my life.)

9. I initially went here out of pure curiosity about Scientology. The staff there are so friendly and caring. I have been attending Life Improvement Courses, Dianetics, and Auditing. Scientology is compatible to any religion and open to everyone. The courses really help you in your life and can really change your life. I have NEVER been “forced” to buy anything or “pressured” to take any of their courses. I’m enjoying my study of Scientology and encourage others to give it a try.  People shouldn’t judge Scientology unless they have gone there themselves, taken courses and gotten to know the staff there. You will see this is a great organization.

10. The best thing that ever happened to me in this life was finding out about the Church of Scientology. I have been helped in so many ways by my experiences with this incredible Church and even more important I have seen many others helped. It has been more than 42 years since I first walked into the Church and I have enjoyed ever minute of my experience since. I recommend that everyone should look for themselves and see if it would be a good thing for you. You cannot make someone be a Scientologist as each individual needs to decide for themselves. All the best to you!!!

11. They have a lot of very friendly people there, more of hip type crowd. Their “personality test” was surprisingly spot on. The course gave me very interesting information which when used, actually worked. There is a technology here. There is definitely something to this. You gotta check it out for yourself, forget what anyone says, that’s just dissing,  check it out. Does it make sense or not.

12. When I entered this place some years ago, I knew I was suffering from Something That was Bothering me and Stopping me from Expanding in my life and I was feeling really bad.

The first step was the personality test. It was pretty accurate, then I did several Courses here, As the direct result of their help, I’m a successful business man and Have a great family, And I’m very happy.

In Fact, if I did not go in there that day and Take responsibility for me… I would be dead by now!

The black and white image shows a beam of light resembling a ghost, and was captured at Arizona’s Antelope Canyon, a slot canyon that’s popular among landscape photographers.

“Certain textures and contours found in nature lend themselves beautifully to black and white photography,” Lik said in the statement.“The intensity of contrasting light and dark spaces was surprising, but made for some of the most powerful images I’ve ever created.”
