The Type Of Girl That Makes You Forget How To Talk

A 1970’s Cold War Ear Home Built 26 Feet Underground

las vegas nuclear bunker

Las Vegas is fertile breeding ground for the strange. Now that this bizarre, personal Cold War bunker has hit the residential market, you can add this creepy Hobbit-like underground home to your list of places to see on your next visit to Sin City. At this sprawling home for sale at 3970 Spencer Street, just east of the Las Vegas Strip, you can golf, barbecue, swim, relax in a hot tub, dance under a starry sky and make breakfast while gazing at the mountains – all while 26 feet underground.

The unusual home is a 5,000 square foot subterranean villa situated inside a 15,2000 square-foot bunker. It was built in the 1971 (and still retains a 70′s Brady Bunch décor) and features a heated pool, four-hole putting green, two Jacuzzis, sauna, bar, dance floor, and a small stage enveloped within 13″ concrete walls (it is designed to withstand a nuclear blast) decorated to mimic the great outdoors. If the thought of living in a dark, dank basement deters you, never fear.  The home makes use of a sky control system that lets the occupants adjust the lighting mode. Light switches labeled “Sunset,” “Day,” “Dusk” and “Night” simulate those settings by dimming or brightening lights and stars on the ceiling, which is painted sky blue with white clouds.

In 2012, the home was foreclosed on after a buyer who had purchased it in 2005 for $2 million, couldn’t keep up with mortgage payments. Now, it’s been repossessed by the bank and can be yours for a paltry $1.7 million.

This is the *real* secret to success…a million self help books boiled down

Learn to front-load your pain.

That’s it.

If you procrastinate, you’re putting off more than your work. You’re putting off the pain. Right?

But doesn’t it always catch up to you?

What you have to do is front-load all those yucky crappy feelings. Go ahead and feel it now so you don’t have to feel it later. And guess what? If you put it off, it gets amplified. Right now you’re dreading doing your homework or writing an article or w/e, but what if you don’t do it? And worse, what if you put that stuff off consistently?

That thing you feel crappy about? That thing you’re dreading? That is exactly the thing you need to do in order to improve your life.

It’s a sign post.

Instead of dreading it, go ahead and embrace it. Embrace the yucky feeling and all. If you can do this for three weeks consistently, you will change your life forever.

If you embrace all that yucky stuff with gusto, your brain will take notice. Your brain is not static. it changes depending on what you focus on. The circuitry in your brain literally changes over time.

Finally, think of your actions as alchemy. You are taking time and adding energy to it to create a result. If you take action haphazardly, you will have a meh kind of life.

You know you’re going to end up feeling like shit if you procrastinate anyway, so go ahead and do the thing you’re afraid to do. If you’re going to feel bad either way, you might as well take the action that will improve your life.

This is a Belgian Blue Bull

The Belgian Blue’s extremely lean, hyper-sculpted, ultra-muscular physique is termed, “double-muscling”. The double-muscling phenotype is a heritable condition resulting in an increased number of muscle fibers (hyperplasia), instead of the (normal) enlargement of individual muscle fibers (hypertrophy).

This particular trait is shared with another breed of cattle known as Piedmontese. Both of these breeds have an increased ability to convert feed into lean muscle, which causes these particular breeds’ meat to have a reduced fat content and increased tenderness. The Belgian Blue is named after their typically blue-grey mottled hair colour, however its colour can vary from white to black.

This NFL Player Walked Into An Animal Shelter And Asked For The Dog That No One Else Wanted

$

Baltimore Ravens Offensive Tackle Ronnie Stanley and his girlfriend stopped by The Baltimore Animal Rescue and Care Shelter and made a game-winning request: “We are looking for a dog that’s been here a long time and maybe not-so-adoptable.”

That not-so-adoptable dog is a 6-year-old girl who was found in mid-May, locked inside a room in an empty home with no food, water, or fresh air.

“She was dehydrated and extremely frightened,” BARCS wrote. “Winter has a long, hanging belly, mostly likely a result of over breeding–something we see far too often at our shelter. Due to her age, her belly is not something that will ever tighten up. Female dogs with such characteristics are often passed by in our shelter — but not by Ronnie!”

Ronnie’s thoughts on her appearance, as recalled by volunteers: “Well, that’s just what happens when you’ve had babies.”

BARCS spokesperson Bailey Deacon is thrilled for what this adoption may mean for other shelter dogs.

“If big, strong, cool Ronnie chooses adoption, so will those who look up to him,” she says. “And the bonus here is that he didn’t come in and adopt just any dog, he specifically asked for a long-term, hard to adopt pup. How cool is that?”

10 Quotes From a Sioux Indian Chief That Will Make You Question Everything About Our Society

$

.

Luther Standing Bear was an Oglala Lakota Sioux Chief who, among a few rare others such as Charles EastmanBlack Elk and Gertrude Bonnin occupied the rift between the way of life of the Indigenous people of the Great Plains before, and during, the arrival and subsequent spread of the European pioneers. Raised in the traditions of his people until the age of eleven, he was then educated at the Carlisle Indian Industrial Boarding School of Pennsylvania, where he learned the english language and way of life. (Though a National Historical Landmark, Carlisle remains a place of controversy in Native circles.)

Like his above mentioned contemporaries, however, his native roots were deep, leaving him in the unique position of being a conduit between cultures. Though his movement through the white man’s world was not without “success” — he had numerous movie roles in Hollywood — his enduring legacy was the protection of the way of life of his people.

By the time of his death he had published 4 books and had become a leader at the forefront of the progressive movement aimed at preserving Native American heritage and sovereignty, coming to be known as a strong voice in the education of the white man as to the Native American way of life. Here, then, are 10 quotes from the great Sioux Indian Chief known as Standing Bear that will be sure to disturb much of what you think you know about “modern” culture.

1. Praise, flattery, exaggerated manners and fine, high-sounding words were no part of Lakota politeness.

Excessive manners were put down as insincere, and the constant talker was considered rude and thoughtless. Conversation was never begun at once, or in a hurried manner.

2. Children were taught that true politeness was to be defined in actions rather than in words. .

They were never allowed to pass between the fire and the older person or a visitor, to speak while others were speaking, or to make fun of a crippled or disfigured person. If a child thoughtlessly tried to do so, a parent, in a quiet voice, immediately set him right.

3. Silence was meaningful with the Lakota,

And his granting a space of silence before talking was done in the practice of true politeness and regardful of the rule that ‘thought comes before speech.’…and in the midst of sorrow, sickness, death or misfortune of any kind, and in the presence of the notable and great, silence was the mark of respect… strict observance of this tenet of good behavior was the reason, no doubt, for his being given the false characterization by the white man of being a stoic. He has been judged to be dumb, stupid, indifferent, and unfeeling.

4. We did not think of the great open plains, the beautiful rolling hills, the winding streams with tangled growth, as ‘wild’.

Only to the white man was nature a ‘wilderness’ and only to him was it ‘infested’ with ‘wild’ animals and ‘savage’ people. To us it was tame. Earth was bountiful and we were surrounded with the blessings of the Great Mystery.

5. Kinship with all creatures of the earth, sky and water was a real and active principle.

In the animal and bird world there existed a brotherly feeling that kept the Lakota safe among them. And so close did some of the Lakotas come to their feathered and furred friends that in true brotherhood they spoke a common tongue.

6. This concept of life and its relations was humanizing and gave to the Lakota an abiding love.

It filled his being with the joy and mystery of living; it gave him reverence for all life; it made a place for all things in the scheme of existence with equal importance to all.

7. It was good for the skin to touch the earth,

And the old people liked to remove their moccasins and walk with bare feet on the sacred earth… the old Indian still sits upon the earth instead of propping himself up and away from its life giving forces. For him, to sit or lie upon the ground is to be able to think more deeply and to feel more keenly. He can see more clearly into the mysteries of life and come closer in kinship to other lives about him.

8. Everything was possessed of personality, only differing from us in form.

Knowledge was inherent in all things. The world was a library and its books were the stones, leaves, grass, brooks, and the birds and animals that shared, alike with us, the storms and blessings of earth. We learned to do what only the student of nature learns, and that was to feel beauty. We never railed at the storms, the furious winds, and the biting frosts and snows. To do so intensified human futility, so whatever came we adjusted ourselves, by more effort and energy if necessary, but without complaint.

9.…the old Lakota was wise. He knew that a man’s heart, away from nature, becomes hard;

he knew that lack of respect for growing, living things soon led to lack of respect for humans, too. So he kept his children close to nature’s softening influence.

10. Civilization has been thrust upon me…

And it has not added one whit to my love for truth, honesty, and generosity.

The Unbelievable Journey of Kids Traveling to School From Around The World

$

How do you get to school each day? Perhaps your parents drive you, you walk a few blocks on solid concrete, or you take the air conditioned bus with leather seats and 100% protection against the elements. These are the normal means of transportation to school that make your life so much easier but are often taken for granted.

School is important all over the world, including areas where paved roads and public transportation do not exist. Children living in rural or poverty-ridden areas face a much more treacherous trek to school each morning, but somehow these inspirational kids get up the courage and strength to make the trip day after day.

What if it took you 5 hours to travel to school each way, would you be willing to make the trip? Children in Gula, China do it. And they are not the only students around the world willing to face a few risks in order to reap the rewards of an education.

Here we detail 20 of the most dangerous and unusual journeys students must take in order to make it to class on time.

Lebak, Indonesia

Children walk, or rather climb, across a damaged suspension bridge to get to school.

21 People Reveal The Best Relationship Advice They Ever Received

$
0
0

1.When you’re going down the pub with your mates and you expect to be back around 11 tell her you’ll be back at around 12. So when you roll in the door at 11 you can claim you left early to see her before you both went to bed.

2. Once you’re in a long-term relationship/marriage, never stop dating your SO. There needs to be some sort of constant courtship to make them feel you still want them, even after all these months/years. I am an expert at not doing this.

3. “You’re not required to set yourself on fire to keep other people warm.”

4.“Marry someone with a different favorite cereal than you so they won’t eat all of yours.” You’d be amazed how much more peaceful life is this way.

5. Best response to: “my SO has changed, and it’s just not working any more”.

“If people can change, then that change is ongoing. Marriage is a beautiful thing that allows two people the time and space to safely fall in and out of love many, many times. Your wife could again become sexual just as easily as a new woman could become cold. I would plead with you to tend your own garden and be patient in its fruits. Paths that have intersected in the past are all the more likely to cross again soon.”

6. Don’t look for a girl you want to treat like a princess, look for a girl you want to treat like a partner. Its very true. I don’t mind carrying my SO, but I need to know she can carry me if I feel down

7. No relationship is perfect and there will be conflict. What matters is the desire to solve the problem.

8. Just because a person is right or perfect for you that you may not be the right one for them.

9. “A relationship is like a fart. If you have to force it, it’s probably shit.”

10. Don’t go into a relationship expecting to be made happy. You have to be able to be happy on your own first.

11. Don’t disparage your SO behind their back.

I’m talking about watercooler bullshit “The old ball-n-chain is such a shrill nag, amirite??” “My husband is such a dumb neanderthal, he’d be lost without me!” etc…

Of course, if you have a legitimate gripe with your loved one then talk to them privately or seek professional counseling. But don’t use them as a punchline to get brownie points with other people who probably have bad relationships themselves. Over time, that kind of thing can seep in and undermine how you actually see them.

12. “The problem is that love isn’t enough. You both have to be committed. There may be times you don’t feel like you love each other, like you’re so hurt or angry that you can’t stand the sight of the other. But if you’re both committed to the relationship, to the promises you made, then you’ll work through it and you’ll become stronger. Love without commitment just isn’t enough.” -my Mom.

13. Don’t compare your relationship to others.

14. “You can gauge a person’s love for you by how they treat you when they are upset with you.”

15. “Never let it be me versus you. It should always be us versus the problem.”
